LOTTERY & GAMING CREDIT
The Lottery & Gaming Credit provides direct
property tax relief to qualifying taxpayers in the form of a credit on their
property tax bills. For taxpayers who
pay their taxes in installments, the entire credit is applied on the first
installment.
You may claim a lottery credit if,
on January 1, you were an owner of the property and used the property as your
primary residence. Your “primary
residence” is where you live most of the time.
When you are temporarily away, it is the home you ordinarily return
to. You can
have only one primary residence! Rental

If when you receive your current
tax bill in December, you find that you should have received a lottery
credit, and one does not appear, contact your local municipal treasurer,
as soon as possible. You will need to
sign a late claim form, and the amount due for your taxes will then be
adjusted. This needs to be done by
January 31st every year. If, on the
other hand, you received a credit on your tax bill, and one should not have
appeared, you need to contact your local municipal treasurer to have it
removed. The tax amount will also be
adjusted.
