The Manitowoc County Human Services Department is
recruiting new foster parents for children ages 0-18.
Foster parents must be at least 21 years of age. "A person
licensed to operate a foster home shall be a responsible,
mature individual who is fit and qualified, who does not abuse
alcohol or drugs or have a history of a civil or criminal
conviction or administrative rule violation that substantially
relates to caring for children or operating a foster home, and
who exercises sound judgment and displays the capacity to
successfully nurture foster children."
Foster parents must have a willingness to work with the
agency and the birth parents in achieving a foster child's
permanence goal, either reunification with the birth family or
adoption.
Foster parents receive 12 hours of initial training and are
required to obtain 6 hours of training per year post licensing.
The Human Services Department will provide training
opportunities for foster parents to meet these requirements.
Foster parents are screened, trained and receive a monthly
payment for the care of each child. For more information,
contact the Foster Care Coordinator, Patty Timm, at:
683-4230.
